A Journey of Success: Supporting Maya Children’s Education at Tuukul Taam Museum

Today, we want to share a heartwarming story that is very close to our hearts here at Abbey del Sol.
When we first began supporting the educational program for Maya children at the Maya Museum Tuukul Taam in Leona Vicario, we had no idea how impactful this journey would be.

Our goal was simple:
Helping Maya children learn about the magnificent history of their ancestors.

The program is part of the Maya Hinterland Project, initiated by our dear friend Michael A. Maurus.

Thanks to Michael’s vision and the unwavering dedication of Elizabeth, the museum’s administrator, the children are now more eager than ever to learn about their ancestors.

Seeing the children’s enthusiasm and the packed sessions warms our hearts.

Each educational session is not only fully booked now but often over capacity, filled with young, curious minds ready to dive into their rich heritage.

A special part of this educational program includes showing films in the Maya language about the history of the Maya, as written in the Popol Vuh. These films are not only captivating for the children but also crucial in preserving the Maya language and knowledge. It’s a beautiful way to connect the children with their roots and keep their cultural heritage alive.

This level of success is beyond what we ever dreamed of when we started supporting this cause. We call this a total success, and it is all thanks to the hard work and passion of everyone involved.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of this journey and to support such an amazing cause. It truly shows the power of education and community.
