Discover the New Museum and Cultural Center in Puerto Morelos!

There’s a brand new place to visit in Puerto Morelos, and it’s super cool. It’s called the Museum and Cultural Center of Puerto Morelos, and it just opened last week. It might not be as famous nor extensive as the MoMA or the Walker Art Center, but for a small town like Puerto Morelos, it’s really awesome!
Let us tell you all about it!

The Story of Puerto Morelos

A long time ago, Puerto Morelos was just a small fishing village and a place where people collected chicle (the tree sap they used to make chewing gum). Now, it’s a popular tourist spot that people from all over the world come to visit. These murals show how the town changed over time.

As you go up to the second floor of the museum, you’ll see lots of murals that tell the story of Puerto Morelos.

Each mural has descriptions in both Spanish and English, so everyone can understand them and learn about the history of Puerto Morelos.

Always Something New

On the second floor of the Museum is a Exhibition Hall. The museum will change its exhibitions every three to four months. That means there will always be something new to see each time you visit.
How cool is that?
Currently they feature paintings of Maya Art and we will tell you all about it in one of our next blogs.
